Meet Karynne Munroe, Project Manager

q

You’re one of the original EfficiencyOne crew, what has your EfficiencyOne journey been?

A

I started at EfficiencyOne in April 2010 as Interim Board Secretary, and soon after, was Executive Assistant for about 6 years. In 2016 I moved to the programs world as an ESA before working as a Coordinator for HomeWarming and covering a maternity leave in RDI as Program Manager.

I’m now managing a fun, exciting new technical-heavy role as Project Manager for the Klondike Pilot and other demand reduction initiatives. I love my job, the people and being able to work closely with so many different programs!

q

If you could meet any famous person past or present who would it be and why?

A

Barack Obama. I saw him live in September when he visited but I want to pick his brain on so many major issues and learn how he thinks. He made a lot of great changes during the Great Recession of 2008 and his leadership style is a huge inspiration for me.

q

What is a fun fact about you we might not know?

A

I can read/write Italian at a basic level and speak a few key phrases (and I’m actively working to learn more through Duolingo.)

Meet Sam Kennedy, Reporting Analyst

q

Tell us a little about yourself.

A

I am from Fall River, NS, some of my interests include music, movies, and model making.
I am considering going back to school at some point for my MSc in Math/Stats. I’m interested in Data Science and like the idea of adding a few more letters after my name!

q

What made working at EfficiencyOne appealing to you?

A

I’m extremely conscious of sustainability, and energy efficiency is part of that package. I actually saw a presentation from EfficiencyOne at a conference I was attending around the time I decided to make a change. All I could think was ‘It would be awesome to work there.’Four months later, I was here!

q

How do you practice efficiency and sustainability in your own life?

A

I practice waste reduction (I once went so hard on this that I didn’t need to take out my garbage for 18 months!) I’m a vegetarian (exclusively for sustainability—although the health benefits are good too). I do not own a vehicle, with pride! (I carshare now, and when I do, I exclusively drive a hybrid— otherwise, I follow the motto of ‘2 feet and a heartbeat.’)

q

What is a fun fact about you we might not know?

A

I’m a musician and have played in several bands over the years. I’m currently playing in 2 bands, and really enjoy learning new material, practicing, and playing at the finest dive bars the HRM has to offer. I also really like dogs and have adopted a Galapagos penguin named Pete (he doesn’t live with me though; I just send him money.)
